Corporate Responsibility – KMG Donate Blood

BY TOM HART | August 3, 2018

Squeamish readers look away now as this month a few of our team braved the needle and donated their blood again to the NHS. The Hammersmith donation drive had two new KMG donatees and will bring along a few more when they are next in town. Around half of the NHS's current donors are over 45. That's why they need more young agency type people (we joke) to start giving blood. It’s estimated that the average person can save about 1,000 lives in a lifetime due to donating blood and at KMG we have now collectively donated 19 pints. A person has 8 pints of blood in them at any one time, so we think 19 is pretty good going so far. Furthermore, Tracking and Tech consultant Jaume found out that he was eligible for bone marrow donation as well so he has entered a database pool in case a match arises! A great, lifesaving cause. The NHS need over 6,000 blood donations every day to treat patients in need across England. They need to make sure that they have enough supplies of all blood groups and blood types to treat all types of conditions. By giving blood, every donor helps meet the challenge of providing life-saving products whenever and wherever they are needed. At KMG we love to help where we can and finding a donation hall just down the road from our HQ in Hammersmith was a great discovery. Well done Team!
